Swedish games are crazy. In a good way.

Yesterday for FHE the singles got together at a park to play games! It was a blast! After lots of sparkling water flavors to drink and bacon-flavored-nasty-chips, we played brännbol (burn ball) which is like a crazy modified version of baseball, that is actually way more fun.

Then, I saw a set of Kubb blocks and insisted that we play! I've seen people playing this game in both Kiwanis Park AND at Zion's National Park. And now I know how to play. I'm not very good, but it's a really nice, chill game to play.

Can't wait to bring these gems back to the states. Yesssss.

At least it's fresh

Scoop your own shrimp. I think this is why the grocery store smells the way it does.

Shopping tip

Know the name of the food in Swedish before you try to find/purchase it. Because whilst searching for flour, you may come across this ominous wall:

Does "vetemjöl" sound remotely like flour? Could this be sugar? Or is that "grahamsmjöl"? If vetemjöl is indeed flour, do you want "ekologist vetemjöl" or "vetemjöl special"? And what about "dinkelmjöl," "rågmjöl," and "rågsikt"?!

That was a moment in which I was very grateful that most Swedes speak English. And also for killer logical reasoning skills—thank you SAT—because you would have to believe that regular flour is what they would have the most of on hand, in addition to white flour being the cheapest kind of flour. We double checked with a Swede, and turns out we selected well.

Skansen

This is what Skansen looks like:

I didn't take this photo. interneeet...

It's a pretty cool outdoor museum, built (once again) by Arthur Hazalius in the late 1800s. It's a village of all sorts of traditional and historical swedish houses, literally picked up and moved here, and they come from all over Sweden. It's kind of like Colonial Williamsburg, but Sweden-style. Which is cool. But I was more interested in these things:

Yummy typography.

Hand painted wallpaper. Impressive.

VIKING

Walking on these for a few hours is fun.

A real live working millstone! I've always wondered how they work.

Aaaaaand, one of the highlights of the trip....

REINDEER

BABY REINDEER!

SUN BATHING SEALS. SO FAT.

And here's Dane's video!

Sometimes your friends are vikings
